It was love at first sight; just an extraordinary old house sitting magically at the sea cliffs edge. A house that drew them into its loving embrace. . . and into an age long cycle of death and retribution that has been its reason for existence for a hundred and fifty years It was just a weekend holiday to visit an old friend, but Peter and Annie's lives were changed forever when they came to Oyster Bay.

The premise of the story was satisfactory, and I enjoyed the descriptive text which took me away to an interesting and engaging place; but the poor punctuation made me feel the author had typed it on a manual typewriter with a sticky comma key since commas appeared in random places, often in the middle of words. This compromised the quality of the story. I'd also advise the author to forget there is an exclamation key. Leave it to the reader whether something is worthy of exclamation or not. The exclamation point was overworked and it felt as if the writer were trying to direct the reader how to feel when it should be the story that does that. Overall it kept me engaged to find out what would happen, but the enjoyment was diminished by poor punctuation and a few misspelled words. I also, personally, would have preferred a more sensual build up to the sex scenes.Product details

Unfortunately one of my reviewers received a Pre-professionally edited copy! To balance it out I have included two reviews of the edited version of the book copied from another site.

This is a fantastic read! I was glued to every page. It made me laugh and it made me cry. It was the perfect blend of suspense and lust. Everything you need in a book. I found myself thinking about the characters when I wasn't reading and wondering what was going to happen next. I highly recommend to anyone who loves to be enveloped in a story. Very creative, 10/10!

Seldom do you stumble across a book that takes a reader's life hostage. The kind of book that makes the real world seem less important. Oyster Bay did this for me. This book moved me in a way I never expected. Each character is well developed and all have extremely intricate back stories - which is probably what made this such a captivating read. At various stages throughout the book, I found myself drawn to each of them in very different ways. After the first couple of chapters, I was worried that this was going to be another horror type story, a haunted house on the top of a hill. But as I read on, I was pleased to discover that it was much more than that. It is a story of love and lust. Of passion and fear. But most of all, it is an insight into real human behaviour, and the way we deal with the things in life we cannot control. If this is the Authors' first book, I sincerely believe that it is not the last we will hear of him. A wonderful read that satisfies, but leaves you wanting more.
I was sadly disappointed by this book. While the premise of a good pageturner is there, the spelling mistakes, poor grammar and syntax spoilt my reading experience. No doubt it has been self-published and suffers from it.
Macsporran gets the description of the landscape right, even the characters are familiar as here we are after all, deep in the southern parts of his world.
However, I felt he has let down Tasmanians in his poor language usage and editing which reflect bad light on the usually considerable literary skills of the small island of Tasmania.
