Stupid is the only word I can think of to describe this book. My apologies to the author. I hate to give such a negative review, so I do have to give credit for the effort. It takes a lot of time and effort to write ANY novel. That being said, this is one of the stupidest books I've ever read. The story is ok, and after I got through the first half, it did get a little more exciting. Exciting enough to finish, and I had to find out what happens. The main problem is with the characters. Not only is there too many, but they are shallow, self centered, and ridiculous in their thoughts and words. No one thinks, or speaks, like these characters do. Irrational and TOTALY illogical thoughts and speech. Another problem I had, is the writing and editing are not up to par. I just can't recommend this book. Sorry, but don't waste your time. Just sayin.Product details

Baby Dear Linda Huber 9781912175215 Books Reviews
First book I've read by this author, but not the last, Gut wrenching thriller! Couldn't wait to turn the pages to see what twist was next. Felt like you knew the characters. Several of the author's books are not available for purchase, very disappointing
Caro and Jeff have a good marriage, plenty of money. Caro only needs one thing to make her life complete ... a baby of her own. That was the reason she married Jeff ..security, not only for herself, but to be able to raise a child to have a much better than she'd had.
And then they find out that Jeff is infertile.
Sharon is almost full term, and unsure about her pregnancy. This was totally unplanned and her husband Craig doesn't seem to want the baby, either.
Two families ...two different outlooks ... and their worlds are about to hit head on.
Jeff goes a little crazy when he can't father Caro's baby. He's terrified she will leave him. After all .. any other man can give her the one thing he can't. And then Jeff meets Sharon, a woman who doesn't want her baby.
To what lengths is he willing to go to get a baby for Caro?
This is a well-written book about the effects that infertility have on some people. It must be awful to be denied the one thing in the world you cannot give the one you love the most. This is an incredible book with characters that stand out as real people. The ending encompasses all the frustration, anger, the feeling of helplessness, the emotional overload of this sensitive topic.
Several typos and mistakes but overlooking that it was a good book. Same outcome as many about kidnapped babies where fertility is the problem. Author seemed to want to bring out more characters Liam, Pete and give them roles but they never fully got their placement. Liam more so than Pete. I almost skipped chapters when it became so obvious of outcome. Not too bad. Would read more.
The book was a fast and scary read. The main plot revolved around a male character who the author did a superb job in portraying. The story also involved a couple of smaller subplots with characters also portrayed very realistically. The main plot and subplots ran alongside each other seamlessly with a very satisfying conclusion.
Linda Huber is the mistress of structure, pace and ramping up the tension from page one. Right away in ‘Baby Dear’ the cracks start to show in Caro and Jeff’s relationship all she wants is a baby and he can’t give her one. And then there’s Sharon carrying a baby she and her husband Craig aren’t sure they want. The reader knows that these two fraught situations are going to collide with devastating results. All we need do is sit back, drink coffee and let Linda Huber leads us through the twists and turns and emotional storms to another of her nail-biting conclusions.
This turned out to be a better book than I expected. When I first started reading it, I didn't care for the writing style. It just seemed stilted to me. Also, I didn't care for the characters, although, as the book went on, there was one character in particular---Sharon---that I warmed up to. About halfway through, the action picked up. Before that the novel was basically laying the groundwork for the story. I did start to like the book way before that point, though. There are five main adult characters in this book. It all starts when one couple, Jeff and Caro, find out that they aren't going to be able to have a baby of their own because of Jeff's low sperm count. That's bad enough, but even worse, the only reason Caro married him to begin with was because he owned his own business and was relatively well-off, and she felt he could provide a financially stable home for their baby. Caro didn't love him at all, although she apparently had enjoyed her life with him and spending time with him. She thought he was a "nice, fun guy", until she found out they couldn't have a baby, then she started to find him "repulsive". Jeff, on the other hand, was crazy about Caro and couldn't bear to lose her. Then there's Sharon and her husband Craig. Sharon is pregnant, and not happy about it. She has a career she loves, and she and Craig hadn't planned on having a baby for a couple years, but her birth control got messed up when she had the flu. Then there's a single mother, Julie, who becomes friends with Sharon. Julie's husband abandoned her and their two young children, and she is a struggling single mother but she loves her children. Caro spends a good portion of the book being whiny and annoying, obsessing over the fact that she and Jeff can't have a child together. She doesn't want to adopt, because she wants a newborn baby to raise and she thinks if they try to adopt they'll get stuck with a toddler. She's all for being artificially inseminated with another man's sperm, but Jeff won't hear of it. Jeff realizes he's going to lose Caro and starts trying to figure out how to "buy" a baby so she'll stay with him. Jeff's mental state begins to disintegrate, and Caro is too preoccupied with her own self-pity to notice. Then things go way, way off track. I wasn't riveted to this book, like with some page-turners, I did stop and start reading it quite a few times but I finished it in about two days anyway. During the beginning of the book, there were a lot of characters introduced and at the time I wasn't sure whether they were all necessary or unimportant subplots, but as it turned out, everything did fit together at the end. I really, REALLY, liked the ending, the last chapter. There are quite a few times I've read a book that seemed good until everything falls apart at the end, but not this time.
Stupid is the only word I can think of to describe this book. My apologies to the author. I hate to give such a negative review, so I do have to give credit for the effort.
